Joseph C. Wasch
Joe is one of the founders of the firm and our senior partner. Joe has spent his decorated career in corporate and real estate law representing franchisors, franchisees, large businesses, tech companies, startups as both in-house and fractional general counsel.
Joseph C. Wasch is a senior partner and founder of the firm. Joe’s practice concentrates on the areas of franchise law and corporate transactional law. Joe regularly counsels his corporate clients on business structuring, entity organization and corporate governance, equity and debt financing transactions, mergers and acquisitions, sales of businesses, drafting and reviewing software and intellectual property licensing/sale, employment law and human resources issues, trademark matters, purchase contracts and complex commercial transactions.
Joe serves as senior partner to our firm’s robust franchise law, commercial leasing and corporate law practice. Joe drafts Franchise Disclosure Documents and all franchise-related documents for startup, emerging and national/international brands. Joe and his team review and negotiate hundreds of commercial leases per year for franchisee and small business tenants. Our firm serves as approved vendors for multiple franchise systems who send franchisees all over the country for purposes of lease reviews.
In a career spanning over 40 years, Joe has been an executive officer and in-house general counsel to six corporations, including franchise companies, involved in such diverse industries as investment banking, healthcare, temporary staffing, real estate, and software development. In those assignments, he advised and counseled senior management and boards of directors on legal risk assessments, strategic initiatives and policies and procedures.
After forming his solo practice in 2008, Joe served as general counsel to the ownership group of powerhouse franchise Tropical Smoothie Café and advised the owners through the sale of the majority ownership in the business to private equity.
Mr. Wasch is a member of the American Bar Association Forum on Franchising.
